I am a firm believer in crocodiles.
Firm snout just above the waterline,
cruel, glinting eyes swollen with dreams
of brown rivers.
Leathery back blooming white hyacinths
in the sun, patient bridegrooms.
A crocodile taught me Keynesian economics:
output is determined by total demand.
All around a silent forest purrs broad leaves.
And God created man. Take, and eat:
this is My Body.
The crocodile is a simple equation.
