Twine // Ron Jordan

your body

brown and bold as my favorite liquor

and just as intoxicating

in my arms, pliable as warm wax

melting through fingertips

touch molded into black skin

taste flowing across teeth and tongue

lips whispering pious devotion

singing sin

your praise, a psalm

etched into eyelids

every consonant, a prayer

each vowel, a blessing

legs still twined

behind my head.
